Brand Identity Design
Logo Design Process
My approach to design a logo has always been flexible and I make sure the client always knows what will be delivered. Every project is different and can be tailored to what is required. That being said, each project will usually include research, sketching, concepts and final assets.
Stage Zero
Kick Off
Get in contact about your project by filling out my project enquiry form. We’ll then schedule a call to meet each other and talk through your project and the problems you would like to solve.
I’ll then send over the proposal and statement of work for the design package we have chosen that best suits your project. Typically, 50% is required to get the project rolling then the final 50% is due before the final assets are delivered.
Stage One
Research
An in-depth look into your business, competition and target market. This research gives me a solid base to create your brand. It also highlights any problems you would like solved with your new brand.
Stage Two
Sketches
After doing the in-depth research and knowing what the client wants I start with a few sketched ideas. This can range from 20-30 different sketches. I then take some time to narrow these sketches down to 3-5 ideas and present them to you.
Stage Three
Concepts
When you have picked your 3 favourite concepts from the presented sketches I will create a digital version of the logo. This is so you can see how the final logo will look and act on screen.
I also like to throw in a ‘Wilde Card’ that you may not have considered but also answers the brief. This may be something completely different from the concepts you have chosen.
I present these concepts in a document with examples of the logo in use in the form of mockups.
Stage Four
Finalisation
At this stage, I will finalise your chosen design route. This will include creating different lockups. This usually includes a small logomark, stacked logo and horizontal logo. If you require anymore logo layouts they will also be created at this stage.
This stage will also include any additional brand collateral for example style guides, social media templates, patterns, icon sets, etc.
Stage Five
Final Assets
Final asstets will include all the brand collateral from the Finalisation stage. This is also when I will send the final 50% depoist, before all final assets are supplied.
Timeframe
A typical brand identity project will take 3-4 weeks. If additional brand collateral is needed add another 1-4 weeks.
