Salty Sea Dog
Logo Design
Intro
Salty Sea Dog is an apparel company based on the south coast of England. They bring a mix of man’s best friend and the love of the beach and sea. The brand was created to inspire people to get out into nature more often.
The Brief
The branding needed to feature a ‘salty sea dog’ as the main mascot inspired by sailing. The company wanted to have a monochrome palette with just black and white as the brand colours.
The brand design would be featured and printed on apparel so I had to keep that in mind when creating the assets.
The Challenge
The challenge with this apparel logo design was to keep it simple enough to work at different sizes for digital and printed media. I also needed to make sure that the design would work great printed on different garments. The final assets also needed to work great on different coloured backgrounds, not only black and white.
Apparel Logo Design
The first thing I started with on this project was the illustration of the dog. This dog was based on a friend’s dog. I feel like she worked perfectly for the illustration. I then added in the sailor’s hat and pipe.
Once the illustration was complete I started to create some badge designs for the brand to use anywhere.
The Results
This was a fun project to work on right from the start. I love projects that include illustrations or mascot designs. The design also looks great on shirts and that was the main brief requirement.
